SchoolHouse Rock! : A rockin' fundraiser to rebuild Cayucay National High School

Hi everyone,

We're currently in the process of planning a fund raising concert to rebuild 11 classrooms for Cayucay National High School in Brgy. Cayucay in Alaminos, Pangasinan. It's entitled SchoolHouse Rock! : A rockin' fundraiser to rebuild Cayucay National High School. If we get enough support, we're planning on holding it on the 15th of August at A-Venue in Makati.

As I've mentioned in a previous post, Cayucay National High School USED TO HAVE a Daycare Center, a basketball auditorium and a National High School that serves at least 500 children. Because of Typhoon Emong, they only have 2 classrooms in good condition left. 11 classrooms were heavily damaged and their basketball court/auditorium collapsed during the storm.

Here are some additional info about the school:
Kinder to Grade 6 - 230 students
6 new rooms and 3 old - ALL DAMAGED

HS:
1st year - 62 students
2nd year - 74
3rd year - 65
4th year - 75

4 classrooms total; 2 DAMAGED

Fortunately, the Daycare center has been moved to the new barangay hall which was barely damaged. However, the teachers are still holding classes in these damaged and dangerous classrooms since they do not have anywhere else to go... and this is where we are really concerned because the structure that was left is very very dangerous. The ceilings look like they can collapse anytime. Add to that the fact that it's been poorly built by the DepEd. The afternoon rains are not helping either. (See photos below)

This is where we need your help. We still have no word from the barangay officials regarding their estimate for the funds they need but we're putting it at Php40,000 per classroom which includes replacing the worn out tables and chairs. In total, we need at least Php400,000 for this project.

Please help us, in any way possible, to pursue this project. As of the moment, we need bands (amateur or pro) and sponsors so we can proceed with the event...

If you have contacts, please let us know by sending an email to helpsmalltown@gmail.com or berna_grace@yahoo.com =)

Thanks thanks! =)

The Aftermath of Typhoon Emong

Bookmark and Share

After Typhoon Emong hit Pangasinan, over 80% of all the houses in Alaminos were left with no roofs.
In our barangay alone, Barangay Cayucay, over 100 houses have been damaged. Some sustained partial damages; others have been left roofless while other houses totally collapsed. Even our place looks like it was bombed.
After seeing the damage first-hand, I realized that I HAVE to do something.
I hope that after viewing these photos, you can help us rebuild this town, too.
We will need anything and everything from tarps to temporarily cover the houses (because it’s been raining every afternoon), canned goods, drinking water, medicines, milk and even roofs.

If you would like to make a donation, please let us know. You can contact us by:
1) sending us an email at
helpsmalltown@gmail.com
2) sending us a message here on multiply
3) text 0922.807.69.39 or
4) call 374.63.02 (look for Bernadette)
